Awakening Dominion: Stepping into What God Has Already Given Us

When I was reading Genesis 1 recently, something stirred deeply within me. I realized that the creation account is not just a story, it is a revelation of identity and purpose.

When God created man, He said:

“Let them have dominion…”
“Be fruitful and multiply…”
“Replenish the earth and subdue it.”
(Genesis 1:26–28)

These words were not casual.
They were not optional.
They were a mandate from God.

He gave us:
Authority
Capacity
Purpose
Dominion

We were designed to rule, not to be ruled.
To lead, not to be led by fear, sin, or circumstances.
To multiply, not just to exist.

But when we look at our lives today, many of us are still being dominated by the very things we were created to overcome.

Some are ruled by:
Fear
Anxiety
Addiction
Emotional pain
Finances
People’s opinions
Negative cycles and habits

And we ask, “If God gave me dominion, why am I still struggling?”

The answer is simple:

You cannot walk in authority you do not realize you have.

Many of us read the Scripture but have not allowed its truth to enter our spirit.
We know the words but haven’t stepped into the reality of those words.

Dominion starts with revelation.

When you understand who you are in God, your posture changes.
You stop seeing yourself as helpless.
You stop living defeated.
You stop letting external circumstances define your identity.

You begin to rise.

You begin to speak differently.
Think differently.
Choose differently.

You begin to operate from a place of victory, not struggle.

Because everything you need for life and godliness has already been given to you in Christ.
The resources of heaven are not far away.
They are within you.

So today, this is your reminder:

You are not a victim.
You are not powerless.
You have dominion.

Now it is time to walk in it.

Reflection Questions

What area of your life have you allowed to dominate you?

What truth about your identity in Christ do you need to embrace today?

Take a moment to write your answer. Let the Holy Spirit speak to you.

Prayer

Father, thank You for calling me into dominion.
Open my eyes to see who I truly am in You.
Help me walk in the authority, identity, and strength You have already given me.
I refuse to live beneath my inheritance.
I step into dominion in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.
